The Need

Across the developing world around 1.6 billion people still rely on kerosene or paraffin lamps for lighting. These  produce carcinogenic fumes and large amounts of CO2 resulting in numerous infant deaths. They are also  expensive, largely ineffective and non-sustainable. We know that solving simple things can make the world of difference. We recognised this simple need and knew solving it would give many the ability to change their lives.

Through a partnership with Green Light Planet and BEN Namibia we’re seeking to help with this issue that affects so many people. It couldn’t be much simpler.  When you buy a light through the Green Light Project it will enable us to provide one for free to BEN Namibia to distribute in Southern Africa. Each time you use your light you’ll know it has a twin in the developing world which is likely prized more than you can imagine.

Stage one will provide 700 lights to BEN Namibia. Right now you can pre-order a light. Once we’ve reached a critical mass of pre-orders we’ll then send you final payment and order details and in the mean time we’ll keep you posted on all that’s developing. Your light will then be sent to you and we’ll let you know all the news from Africa as the project rolls out there.

We take small things for granted. In an environment where there is no electricity  clean sustainable light means

  • An ability to study to get through school
  • Being able to use the evening hours effectively – possibly producing more goods for market
  • Simple safety and health
  • Cutting down on carbon emissions
  • A huge household expense eliminated

These things make the kind of difference that changes lives. We hope  you’ll become involved and help us make this happen.
